Citizen journalism: A threat to the trade as we know it?

For anyone who missed the discussion on Newsnight this week, in which Anne McElvoy of The Economist warned major media groups of the threats of citizen journalism, never fear. The main thrust of McElvoy’s thesis was that citizen journalism must never be permitted to replace professional journalism. She focused on the amateur aspect of videos and reports produced by normal citizens and warned that readers could be swayed by their subjectivity. Read more of this post
